Vernier build afternoon

It was a beautiful day for a group from my workplace, Vernier Software & Technology, to come out to our current build site, BraunnerBrook, out in Hillsboro and sweat for a good cause. We got some work done on the property around the foundation of our future ADA home and in the Women Build home in which Vernier employees and partners gave so much of their support to. And let me tell you a little something about these hardworking folks from Vernier.

We know how to shovel it.

And can really haul it.

Then spread it on thick.

We can measure it and nail it.

And slice right through it.

We give it a couple of thin coats.

Then just stand there and smile :)

Many thanks to Jenny (to my right), Fran, Robert, Matt & Debbie!

Picking up where I left off

Hey Folks,

My apologies for the looooong delay between posts. Life demanded my extra time.

Our Women Build home has come a long way since my last post. My May 27th post left us with the siding complete, all walls framed, and insulation about to begin. The following photos show how much progress we've made. :)

The house has been insulated by our volunteers. Contractors came in to do the electrical, plumbing, along with instillation of the water heater & furnace. We hung drywall up throughout the house, using mold resistant drywall in the bath around the tub & sink. A Team Build group came into hang doors, & all the walls were primed with a second coat of white paint. The future homeowner's may buy other paint to make the rooms more homey to them.

room to the right & the kitchen beyond.

A message for someone
special from WB crew leader Ri Len :)

Several of our families have closed the sale of their homes and moved in, so houses 1, 5, & 7 are occupied. We are working to complete the finish work on 6 for sale in December. The other houses will also soon be filled with families. It's a wonderful feeling to see the folks you've worked beside for up to a year or so, finally living in the homes they've toiled so hard to own. I know all the volunteers feel as I do, seeing our families reach this important goal, makes all the cold, rainy days worthwhile. :)

Until next time, live your best life, however big or small it may be!
